EAH Maintenance Apprenticeships
April 13, 2026EAH Maintenance and Workforce Development departments are preparing for the first cohort of the Electrician and Plumber Apprenticeship Programs to start Fall 2026. These programs are available to current EAH employees and non-employees seeking career advancement and skill development within EAH maintenance department.
Program Overview:
- Designed to establish and maintain high standards of work performance by using on-the-job training supplemented by technical classroom instruction
- Prepares you to obtain your journeyman license/certification at the end of the 4-year program
- EAH is partnered with Auburn University which uses NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) curriculum for the related training course work
- AUFM is a certified Training Site for NCCER and has an onsite Master Trainer
- Tuition, books, and fees related to this program are covered by EAH.
Eligibility
- 18 years of age or older
- Any EAH employee in good standing
- Any non-employee with high school diploma or equivalent
- Good standing with Auburn University
Requirements
Participation requires completion of the established application and selection process and ongoing compliance with EAH employment standards, including:
- Current EAH employees must first apply and be selected by EAH to participate in the program
- Part of the EAH application process is your ability to follow directions, check your emails, and meet deadlines
- Interviews will also be scheduled
- We will request internal reference from your current manager
- Disciplines will be reviewed
- Non-employees

- Interviews will also be scheduled
- Then, if selected by EAH, you must complete the application process to Auburn University (more information to come on the application process for Auburn), attend classes two days a week, complete all assignments and exams by deadlines, complete competencies and OJT, attend regular progress meetings, and eventually take the journeyman licensure exam
- You will also be working in the different areas of the Maintenance department 1:1 with a trained EAH mentor
Employment Commitment
- Employee must obtain journeyman license at completion of program
- You must work FULL TIME as an electrician or plumber following program completion. The 2-year work-commitment begins once you have achieved certification
Compensation & Benefits
- EAH will pay for coursework and OJT
- You will clock in for on-the-job training ( approx. 24+ hours/week) and for completing coursework (6 hours/week), you can work up to 40 hours/week
- Designated hourly rate during classroom and training phases
- Progressive hourly wage increases for OJT as required exams and competencies are validated
- Full-time employee benefits maintained
