July 2026 - Scrub Tech Apprenticeship Program
February 9, 2026Perioperative Services and Workforce Development are preparing for the next cohort of the Scrub Tech Apprenticeship Program to start on July 6, 2026. This program is available to current EAH employees seeking career advancement and skill development within Surgical Services.
Program Overview
- One year apprenticeship includes the following:
- 6-month formal training period
- 6 weeks of classroom instruction and laboratory training
- 20 weeks of specialty clinical rotations
- 6 additional months of guided mentorship
- 6-month formal training period
Eligibility
- Employment at EAH for a minimum of 9 months, 1 year is preferred
- Employees in good standing
Requirements
Participation requires completion of the established application and selection process and ongoing compliance with EAH employment standards, including:
- 2 OR Shadow Days
- Successful completion of all coursework, labs, and rotations
- Minimum passing grade of 80%
- Satisfactory evaluations and skills checkoffs
- No disciplinary action and minimal callouts during the program
Employment Commitment
Program acceptance requires a one-year work commitment in an EAH–Opelika Campus surgical department (Surgery Center, Labor & Delivery, or Cardiovascular Services) following completion.
Compensation & Benefits
- Designated hourly rate during classroom and training phases
- Full-time employee benefits maintained

Incremental hourly increases as required exams and skills checkoffs are completed

- Tuesday, 2/23 at 1:00pm
- Friday, 2/27 at 10:00am
- Wednesday, 3/4 at 2:30pm
Regardless of which session you sign up for, you will be emailed 30 minutes prior to the meeting with a Teams link to join the meeting.
