East Alabama Health mourns the loss of Aquarius Golatte-Chappelle, RN, who passed away on Jan. 7. Our hearts are with all who knew and loved her.

Aquarius was a kind, compassionate nurse who cared deeply for her patients, coworkers and everyone she encountered. In her role on 5T, she left an impact on those around her as a nurturing mentor, exceptional caregiver, and a friend you could count on.

Words Shared About Aquarius:

"The impact you had on so many will never be forgotten. I'm so glad we got to talk, laugh, and work together one last time Tuesday. I'll forever be grateful for all of the talks we had, the advice you gave, and everything you have taught me. Rest easy, my girl." -- Jaliyah Robinson, RN (5T)

“Aquarius embodied what it truly means to be a nurse—selfless, compassionate, and unwavering in their commitment to others. Though we mourn her loss, we are forever grateful for the care she gave, the lives she changed, and the example she set for us all.”  -- Chelsey Crawford, RN (5T manager)

“To the best nurse I know. Fly high, rest easy, and guide our care.”  -- Cody Foster, RN (5T supervisor)

“My Aqua. A light to so many. As you always said, ‘we’ve been thru it.’ You trained me when I moved to AL. Then we closed a unit. Went to a new one together. Then split that one in half. And all the other life changes in between the last 4 yrs. I begged you to become a Charge RN. One day you finally came in my office & said, ‘Imma do it. But you gone make assignments, right?’ And the rest is history. I can only hope you saw yourself the way we all did. You earned your wings.” 💜🕊️  -- Kayla Liebenrood, RN (7T manager)

"Your last words to me last night were ‘Hey, Ms. Michelle.’ 😢 We didn’t work the same shift, but we met in passing. This one hurts. Praying for your family, friends, and EAH, especially 5T. Nurse till the end. Get your rest, daughter. ❤️ Your feet 👣 have carried many and you have gained your wings. Fly away, your Father has called you home." -- Dorothy Michelle Butler, RN (Float Pool)

“When I first started at EAMC she was one of the many nurses who stood out. Always helping others, keeping everything running smooth. Always a smile and positive attitude. I loved working with you Aqua and getting to know you. We talked for a while yesterday and I planned to see you this am. I don’t know why God needed you now, but it feels way too soon. Please  pray for her son, husband, mom, the rest of her family and her EAMC/ 5T family. This lady will forever be missed!! We love you Aqua!!”  -- Traci Mapp, RN (Float Pool)

“Aquarius, Aqua, Qua. 😪 We were co-workers, friends, but most of all you were the Big Sister to most of us on the 5T floor! I am so glad God placed you in my life 4 years ago. I could vent/tell you things and no judgement! I keep telling myself God has another job for you and that’s to go shine your light to others and to help them like you did me! The best mentor anybody can ask for! I love you, Qua, I’m so sorry this happened to you! You were definitely ONE of ONE.” 🕊️🤍 #5TFamily  -- Ke’Airra Huff, MCT (7T)

“To the one who exemplified all of the best qualities in a nurse. You are so missed.”  -- Blake Buice, RN (director, Med-Surg Services)

“You and Shaguana McCoy-Heard always said I inspired you to be a nurse. I may have inspired you, but everything you put into your nursing was EARNED by you!! The most hardworking, caring, and loving nurse I’ve worked with and I’ve told her this numerous of times!! Would exalt her nursing to the highest for her patients, all while in pain!! This baby did that!! She is missed!! She is loved!! There will never be another one to replace her presence!! There will never be another Charge Nurse to hold the floor down like she does!! The good die young and they go to Heaven too!! Take your rest, angel!!!” -- Taresa Mays, RN (7T)

"Aqua, you were one of my heroes. I will never understand why you had to leave us so soon. I will try my hardest to always see the good in every person and every situation like you did. I love and miss you so much sweet friend.” 🤎 -- Kateland Cowart, MCT (5T)

"Lord knows this is a post I never knew I’d have to make. My sweet, sweet Aqua. Work will never be the same without your smiling face. You poured your heart and soul into others every single day. The laughs with you were never ending. I loved to pick on you and draw faces and hats on the pod in front of you. What I wouldn’t give to make you laugh one more time. This isn’t bye, cause I know how much you hate that word, so I’ll see ya later friend. We’ll hold it down for you. We all love you, so so much." -Skyelar Goss, MCT (5T)
