Since opening in 2019, Spencer Cancer Center has provided high-quality, compassionate cancer care to patients across east Alabama, allowing them to receive treatment close to home. As more families turn to East Alabama Health (EAH) for care, the demand has grown beyond our current footprint.

East Alabama Health is moving forward with a transformative expansion of Spencer Cancer Center to ensure every patient receives timely, comprehensive care. Today, and for years to come.
At Spencer Cancer Center
- Patient visits have increased 74% since its opening; there were 48,290 visits in 2025 alone.
- PET/CT scans have increased 99% since 2019.
- Gynecologic Oncology visits have risen 101% since 2022 and 27% in the past year.
Key Elements of the Expansion Include:
- Doubling the medical oncology physician offices, exam rooms, and laboratory services as well as doubling the Infusion Pharmacy compounding capacity.
- Opening a Breast Surgery Clinic with the area's first dedicated breast surgeon.
- Expanding Gynecologic Oncology offices to meet growing patient needs
- Expanding infusion capacity from 30 to 50 chairs
- Adding a second PET/CT unit to enhance diagnostic capacity
- Launching an walk-in clinic to provide care for cancer patients outside the emergency room
- Improving access with a new entrance and 202 additional parking spaces.
