COVID-19 Update
August 21, 2023We have recently seen an increase in COVID community transmission over the last few weeks including a slight rise in ED visits, hospital admissions and positive employees.
Here are a couple of items to remember.
-
Any patient who presents with signs and symptoms of a respiratory illness should be given a mask to wear until they are placed into a room.
- COVID precautions for staff include gown, gloves, eye protection and N95 mask
- Employees who have household members who have tested positive for COVID or Flu but are negative and asymptomatic should wear a mask while working and monitor themselves for symptoms.
-
Employees who test positive for COVID or Flu should follow normal call out procedures and remain out of work for a minimum of 5 days with at least one day of improvement of symptoms with no fever without taking fever reducing medications. The day of onset of symptoms is considered day 0.
- Once employees return to work they should wear a mask thru day 10 from onset of symptoms.
- If staff are prescribed one of the COVID-19 treatment options that need to be filled at one of the East Alabama Apothecary locations, please send a friend or family member to pick up the prescription OR call the Apothecary and they will make arrangements for someone to deliver outside to a personal vehicle.
-
Lastly, the Employee Health department no longer calls COVID positive employees. However, please continue to email the Infection Control/Employee Health email group (InfectionControl@eamc.net) with the following:
- Employee Name
- Employee Number
- Department and Position
- Date of onset of symptoms
- Date of positive test
