Get to Know Gary Blanks
June 6, 2024Gary Blanks joined EAMC as the new director of Environmental Services in May. Gary brings with him over 25 years of experience in health care facilities management. His career includes strategic leadership roles at Flowers Hospital & Medical Center in Dothan, Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare in Memphis, ABM Industries in Shreveport, North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, and other prominent health care systems.
We asked Gary a few questions about himself, his role and his vision for the future. Check out his answers below.
A little bit about Gary:
I am married to a wonderful wife (Jonell Blanks) and have three daughters, two sons and seven grandchildren. I am a man of faith, enjoy the life God has granted me and really enjoy and love good people. I enjoy sowing into the life of others to help guide, uplift and encourage them in the walk of life we are on.
Where did you work previously?
I previously worked at Flowers Hospital in Dothan and Medical Center Enterprise in Enterprise, Alabama.
Tell us about your role as EVS Director:
I feel like my role is to manage the EVS department and provide a clean, disinfected, safe environment for our patient, family members, guest and employees that work at EAMC. My work motto is that we all should have a servant leader mindset and serve others every day.
Do you have any initiatives you are looking forward to implementing?
Yes - To improve and raise the patient satisfaction scores of the services we provide to our patients in regards to how often the room and bathroom are being cleaned during their stay.
What made you want to join East Alabama Health?
I wanted to be a part of the culture and environment that has been created at EAMC. I believe with my experience, I will bring added value to the department and hospital
