Halloween Happenings at EAH

Here’s what we have planned for October:

1. Wear your Halloween / Autumn / Fall scrubs – We’ve loosened the scrub color guidelines again to offer the opportunity to wear seasonal scrubs this month (and also in November and December). So, crack open your closet and bring your holiday scrubs out. Consult your manager or director if you have questions regarding your particular area.
2. Pumpkin Painting Contest – Here’s a chance to prove you and your department are the most creative and artistic. Simply purchase the pumpkin of your choice, brainstorm with your co-workers about a unique design and then paint it. Then, take your department pumpkin to the Main Lobby at EAMC or at EAMC-Lanier to be entered in a contest where a handful of prizes will be awarded. If your office is off-site, and bringing a pumpkin in would be too much trouble, simply decorate your office to make it more festive for patients and staff. Pumpkins should be taken to the EAMC or EAMC-Lanier lobbies between 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24. They will remain on display through November 4. NOTE: For sanitary reasons, please do not use carved pumpkins inside or outside any EAH facility.
3. Costumes on Oct. 31 – Break free from the norm and disguise yourself as something cheerful, or funny, or groovy, or sporty, or maybe even slightly ghoulish. That’s right, we’re encouraging you and your department to go all out on Thursday, Oct. 31 with the wearing of costumes. You may even want to consider a group effort such as dressing up as the cast of Scooby Doo or Grease or Mean Girls. Of course, we have to keep in mind that we are here to serve patients and we don’t want to scare or offend them or their friends and family members, so we do have to put these rules in place regarding costumes.
   
   1. No scary costumes.
   2. No masks that completely cover your face. 
   3. No costumes (or costume accessories) that could be offensive to staff, visitors or guests.
   4. If in doubt, don’t wear it.
