Kim Clemmons, a pharmacist at EAMC, was awarded the IPPE Preceptor of the Year Award at an event held by Auburn University Harrison School of Pharmacy.

Kim was nominated for the award by second year pharmacy students who had spent time with her during their health and wellness rotation last fall. The students were with her for a week and were able to experience various aspects of the profession.

“We travel all over the hospital as well as doctor offices, the Spencer Cancer Center, the Freestanding Emergency Department and more, so it makes for a fun week,” Kim said. “I get to be one on one with the students, so sharing experiences and information with them is much more meaningful when I am fully focused on the students and not working on numerous things at one time.”

Kim’s commitment to mentoring students, and her ability to make learning meaningful and fun earned her this well-deserved recognition.

“The students I precepted that week were some of the best I have had,” Kim shared. “They were teachable, excited and just fun to be with. It’s such an honor they took the time to nominate me."

She shared that the night following the ceremony she was able to speak with and express her gratitude to the students who had nominated her. Congratulations, Kim!
