Tiara Ivey has worked at EAMC for three years in the Transportation department. Since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak in our area, she has taken on the role of wearing many hats at EAMC assisting in the Cath Lab, Pharmacy, and at the Information Desk.

“I am typically a second shift transporter,” Ivey explains. “I have been coming in early to help in the Cath Lab, and once I am done there I help in transportation. We are now wearing masks and face shields with every patient as well as wearing our masks at all times in the hospital. People in the community who pray for us daily has really gotten me through this. The meals that have been provided for us each evening as well as the snacks that we get throughout the day has been amazing! It has really been so uplifting.”

Ivey credits the entire team at EAMC for its efforts during this difficult time. “I have seen numerous co-workers take on additional shifts and work in different departments,” Ivey says. “Sometimes people didn’t even know exactly what they were signing up for when they would volunteer for extra shifts, but they knew they were needed, and they didn’t even question it.”

Ivey adds that the Transportation Department has taken on several different responsibilities during the COVID-19 pandemic. “The staff has been so selfless in their work and hasn’t questioned taking on any positions they are needed in,” Ivey explains.

“At EAMC, everyone is really more of a family rather than co-workers,” Ivey says. “We take all the correct precautions to help our patients and uplift our co-workers as well as other employees outside of our department.”
