The Emergency Department at East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) now offers a Rapid Treatment Zone (RTZ) to efficiently diagnose and treat patients with non life-threatening conditions.

The RTZ is a specialized, six-patient capacity area staffed daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. that provides timely treatment for minor injuries or illnesses such as sprains, cuts, mild allergic reactions, cold or flu symptoms, ear infections and more.

When patients arrive at the EAMC Emergency Department with an illness or injury, they are welcomed and guided through a prompt intake process. Each patient is registered and triaged to assess the urgency of their condition, ensuring that those with the most serious needs receive immediate attention.

Patients with less complex medical concerns may be treated in the Rapid Treatment Zone, where they can be evaluated and cared for more efficiently, allowing for a faster and more streamlined experience.
