Michael Hamer, M.D.
Michael Hamer, M.D. recently joined the team at the Neurology Center of East Alabama. Dr. Hamer earned his medical degree from the University of South Alabama College of Medicine and completed his residency in neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB).
During his time in residency, Dr. Hamer was awarded the Veterans Administration Clinical Service Award. Additionally, he served as Chief Resident from 2019 to 2020. He is also a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society.
Dr. Hamer has a history of medicine in his family, with nearly every member of his family working in healthcare in some capacity. He enjoys the problem-solving aspects of medicine as well as the emotional connections he is able to foster with patients and their families.
Dr. Hamer has been married to his wife, Amanda, for four years, and they have a cat named Millie. In his spare time, Dr. Hamer enjoys spending time with family, yoga, walking, and watching Auburn University sports as well as NFL and NBA games.
