OPELIKA, Ala.—With Saturday, April 27 being National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, East Alabama Health would like to offer a reminder that drug-drop off boxes are conveniently available at both East Alabama Medical Center (EAMC) in Opelika, and EAMC-Lanier in Valley.
The green drop boxes offer a safe, secure location to dispose of unused prescription drugs with no questions asked. Improper disposal of medications by methods such as flushing has the potential to contaminate the water supply. By removing unused prescription drugs from households in a safe manner, community members can eliminate potential drug abuse and prevent children from accidental use or overdose.
Those looking to use the drop boxes can find them in the Main Lobby of EAMC, located at 2000 Pepperell Parkway in Opelika, or in Main Lobby of EAMC-Lanier, located at 4800 48th Street in Valley.
