East Alabama Health is pleased to announce Tatyana Sklyar, M.D. has joined the medical team at the Spencer Cancer Center.

Dr. Sklyar is board-certified in medical oncology, hematology, and internal medicine. In addition, she is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and the American Society of Hematology. 

“I am honored to serve the Opelika-Auburn community and to practice medicine in a place that values connection and compassion, surrounded by the natural beauty that makes this area such a special place to call home,” said Dr. Sklyar. 

“Working at Spencer Cancer Center allows me to be part of a team in a community-focused setting, making a real impact on local families facing cancer.”

Dr. Sklyar earned her medical degree from the Russian State Medical University and completed both her residency and fellowship in hematology and oncology at Allegheny Health Network in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Her research interests include cancer immunotherapy and solid tumors.

“I am fascinated by oncology’s constant evolution, with breakthroughs like immunotherapy, targeted therapies and precision medicine offering hope,” she said. “I want to be at the forefront of this fight, helping patients with compassion and advanced lifesaving treatment.”

Outside of caring for her patients, she enjoys spending her free time hiking, playing golf and traveling.
