Oliver Banta, Chief Business Services and Information Officer of East Alabama Health, has been recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review on its 2025 list of "Hospital and Health System CIOs to Know."

The annual list highlights chief information officers across the country who are leading digital transformation, advancing health IT strategy, and strengthening technology infrastructure within their organizations.

“Oliver’s expertise in health IT and commitment to innovation have been instrumental to our organization’s progress,” said Laura Grill, president and CEO of East Alabama Health. “This recognition reflects the impact of his work and leadership in the health care technology space.”

Banta joined East Alabama Health in 2019 and oversees initiatives that enhance patient engagement, support clinical teams, and ensure secure, efficient technology operations. His leadership has contributed to East Alabama Health’s continued efforts to expand digital health solutions, improve system interoperability, and safeguard data integrity.

East Alabama Health encompasses East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, EAMC-Lanier Rural Emergency Hospital in Valley, the Spencer Cancer Center in Opelika, the Auburn Medical Pavilion and a host of other key medical clinics and practices that help provide a continuum of care to patients throughout an 11-county area. EAMC is a 314-bed regional referral hospital that is currently under construction to add 30 critical care beds. EAMC-Lanier Rural Emergency Hospital provides emergency and outpatient services while its campus also features a nursing home and an ambulatory surgery center. East Alabama Health employs about 3,800 people and is the second largest employer in the region, trailing only Auburn University.
