East Alabama Health's Nurse Apprenticeship Program allows students to work for a progressive wage while earning clinical hour credit toward their nursing classes. 

In conjunction with the Alabama Office of Apprenticeship and the Alabama Board of Nursing, East Alabama Health's Nurse Apprenticeship Program recruits and hires top nursing students from our region's educational partners and provides one-to-one mentorship, individualized training, and tuition assistance to provide well-prepared, confident, capable nurses for the future of East Alabama Health and our community.

Benefits of the program

East Alabama Health's Nurse Apprenticeship Program offers ambitious nursing students guidance,  hands-on experience and a clear path into the nursing profession.

  • Personalized training: Apprentices in the program receive unique, specialized training. Instead of completing group clinical house, nurse apprentices are paired one-on-one with a trained East Alabama Health nurse mentor.
  • Progressive pay increase: Apprentices earn money through a progressive-wage model with pay based on their classes completed and their competency levels.
  • Tuition assistance: EAH will support nurse apprentices with its Last Dollar Scholarship Loan Program.

Program qualifications

  • Educational requirements

    Nursing students looking to join East Alabama Health's Nurse Apprenticeship Program must have passed the first semester of their nursing program. 

  • Work requirements

    Must receive a permit from the Alabama Board of Nursing.

  • Age requirements

    Program participants must be at least 18 years old to participate.
