About Me
Sara Dawit, M.D. is a board-certified neurologist practicing at Neurology Center of East Alabama. Dr. Dawit earned her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Kansas School of Medicine, and completed both her neurology residency and neurophysiology fellowship at Mayo Clinic.
During her time in residency, she served as a chief resident. During her time in fellowship, Dr. Dawit was awarded the Mayo Clinic Quality Improvement Award. Additionally, Dr. Dawit served as an Assistant Professor of Neurology at the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine and clinical neurology faculty at Wellstar Health Graduate Medical Education. She is also an active member of the American Academy of Neurology.
Dr. Dawit's interests include seizure and epilepsy disorders, TIA/stroke, migraine and headache disorders, tremors, Parkinsonism, Parkinson's disease, peripheral neuropathy, carpal tunnel syndrome, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and cognitive disorders. She also performs various procedures for headache conditions, such as Botox injections for chronic migraines and nerve blocks for selected conditions.
Her scholarly work includes initiatives focused on healthcare quality, medical education, and systems-based innovation to improve patient outcomes and clinician professional fulfillment. Outside of her practice, Dr. Dawit enjoys traveling, cooking, baking, and spending time with her family.
