Disability Insurance

East Alabama Health has both long term and short-term disability plans. Both plans are administered by Prudential.

Long Term Disability (LTD) is offered to full-time employees and begins on the first day of the month following one month of employment. EAH pays the full cost of this coverage. Once you have been disabled for 180 days, this plan pays 60% of your monthly salary with a maximum allowance of $8,000. Benefits may continue for up to age 65, but you must continue to meet the definition of disability and supply appropriate documentation in order for the benefits to continue.

(Beginning Jan. 1, 2026) Short Term Disability (STD) plan is offered to employees and begins to pay on the 7th day of your illness or recuperation from an accident. Payments of 60% of your pay (maximum of $2,000 per week) may continue as long as 24 weeks if you are still disabled during that time.
