Auburn University, East Alabama Health partner on free pregnancy education class in Valley

Auburn University College of Nursing and East Alabama Health are partnering to offer Understanding Pregnancy, a free class designed to help expectant mothers and their support person feel more informed and prepared throughout pregnancy.
The new class will take place on Wednesday, July 29 from 6 - 8 p.m. Eastern Time, and is recommended for those who are currently pregnant or planning to be pregnant.
Registration is required and can be completed online. Only the expectant mother needs to register. Each registrant may bring one support person, who does not need to register separately.

Sessions are led by instructors from the Auburn University College of Nursing and cover common pregnancy topics including:
- Prenatal visits: What to expect at routine appointments, screenings and tests.
- Pregnancy changes: Physical and emotional changes during each trimester.
- Nutrition and weight gain: Healthy eating habits and key nutrients during pregnancy.
- Gestational diabetes: How it is screened, managed and supported.
- Gestational hypertension: Warning signs, monitoring and timely care.
Understanding Pregnancy will be held at EAMC-Lanier Rural Emergency Hospital in Valley. Attendees are asked to arrive 5-10 minutes before the scheduled class time, where an instructor will meet them in the lobby.
The class is free for all attendees and is intended to provide guidance, support and education for families at any stage of the pregnancy journey.
