About Me
Dr. Ronson Hughes is a board-certified Surgical Critical Care Physician at East Alabama Medical Center.
He did his undergraduate study in Biology at Tulane University in New Orleans. He then pursued and obtained a Doctor of Medicine degree at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Hughes chose to enter the Emergency Medicine residency program at Emory University in Atlanta Georgia because of his interest in providing care to patients with emergent injuries and illnesses. After being board-certified in Emergency Medicine, he practiced for a number of years and became interested in becoming an Intensivist. He then decided to further his training by completing a fellowship program in Trauma and Surgical Critical Care at St. Luke's University Health Network in Pennsylvania. Dr. Hughes’ love for Medicine and his curiosity of the business aspect of it, led him to get his MBA at Mercer University's Stetchon-Hatcher School of Business.
Dr. Hughes’ constant search for knowledge and furthering his training is a reflection of his dedication to providing the best evidence-based, multidisciplinary, compassionate care to his patients. He considers his patients his family and strongly believes in shared decision making in goals of care for his patients.
