Brain health treatment from dedicated memory specialists.

About the Dementia & Memory Clinic

The Dementia & Memory Clinic at the Neurology Center of East Alabama is a subspecialty clinic dedicated to treating patients living with memory disorders such Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

Each patient at the clinic is seen by a dementia specialist whose clinical focus is on treating conditions affecting memory and brain health.

What services does the clinic provide?

The Dementia & Memory Clinic provides evaluation and treatment for patients experiencing memory loss or other changes in cognitive function.

Care is focused on helping patients and their families better understand symptoms, manage memory-related conditions and plan next steps for brain health.

  • Memory and brain health evaluations to help identify concerns related to memory loss, confusion or other cognitive changes.
  • Personalized treatment plans for managing memory loss and supporting each patient’s ongoing brain health needs.
  • Medication reviews and guidance to help patients understand current medications and treatment options related to dementia and memory care.

When should a patient seek treatment for dementia or memory loss?

While memory may naturally change as we age, not all memory problems are the same. Recurring issues or major loss of cognitive function may be a sign of a memory disorder.

A patient may benefit from consulting a dementia specialist if memory problems are making daily tasks difficult to accomplish.

Some common symptoms associated with memory loss include:

  • Forgetting or misremembering names, places and times
  • Becoming disoriented in familiar places or forgetting where you are
  • Having trouble communicating or finding the right words to explain your thoughts
  • Misplacing items or forgetting where you left something

How do I schedule an appointment at the Dementia & Memory Clinic?

Patients looking to speak with a dementia physician at the clinic should request an appointment with the Neurology Center of East Alabama.

Most new patient visits will require a referral from a primary care provider or specialist. Please check with your insurance provider to see if a referral is required.

If you have questions about the referral process or how to become a patient, please contact the Neurology Center of East Alabama by calling (334) 528-6320.
