East Alabama Health is pleased to welcome Eric Manahan, M.D., MBA, FACS, renowned breast surgeon, to the Spencer Cancer Center team. 

“The addition of Dr. Eric Manahan represents a significant enhancement to our breast cancer program,” said Chris Waits, executive director of oncology at the Spencer Cancer Center. “Dr. Manahan brings dedicated expertise in breast surgery, along with leadership at the national level, which will greatly benefit patients seeking specialized, high-quality care close to home.”

Dr. Manahan is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in breast surgery. Manahan currently serves as president of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, representing an organization that includes over 4,000 medical professionals in the United States and 50 countries throughout the world. 

Manahan attended medical school and completed his general surgery residency at the James H. Quillen College of Medicine at East Tennessee State University. His ties to the Auburn-Opelika area are deep, having earned both his undergraduate degree and Master’s in Business Administration from Auburn University.

Prior to joining the Spencer Cancer Center, Manahan practiced at Hamilton Medical Center in Dalton, Georgia, for 25 years.
