Cataracts

Eye Care

A cataract is an eye condition that causes the eye lens to appear cloudy instead of its naturally clear look. Cataracts is a common condition in older patients due to the lens being worn down over time.

Cataract Symptoms

Some common symptoms of a cataract are blurry vision, difficulty reading words or watching videos, and colors appearing dull. More severe symptoms can often impact a patient’s daily life or ability to complete normal tasks requiring vision.

Cataract Treatments

Patients can often get treatment for a cataract with a prescription for glasses or contact lenses during the early stages of a cataract. For a cataract that severely impacts vision, a doctor might recommend surgery.

The only way to correct a cataract is to undergo surgery. Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed eye surgeries and it takes around an hour to complete. Patients often do not have to be sedated for it.
