Tuition Reimbursement Program

East Alabama Health is committed to helping employees grow their careers in healthcare fields that support our system’s most critical workforce needs. Our Tuition Assistance Program provides financial support for approved coursework that enhances an employee’s current role or prepares them for a future high-need healthcare pathway at EAH.

How the Program Works

Employees pay tuition and fees up front. After the semester is completed, reimbursement is provided based on final grades:

  • A = 100% reimbursement
  • B = 75% reimbursement
  • C = 50% reimbursement

Participants must sign a one-year work-off agreement after the semester ends.

Employees must maintain full-time status while enrolled in courses and throughout the work-off period.

Eligible Programs & Partner Schools

EAH prioritizes support for employees pursuing education that aligns with our current high-need areas. We work closely with:

  • Local community colleges
    • EAH-Sponsored Southern Union State Community College ADN Spots
      • Employees can access reserved spots in Southern Union’s Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)  program, with tuition covered for a post-graduation work commitment.
  • Regional universities
  • Apprenticeship and clinical training partners

Eligibility Requirements for Employees

Employees may apply if they:

  • Have been with EAH at least one year in a full-time position
  • Are in good standing
  • Enroll in a course that benefits their current role or prepares them for a future healthcare career aligned with EAH workforce needs.

Terms of Reimbursement

The reimbursement limit is $10,000 per fiscal year (October-September) for fulltime employees and $5,000 per fiscal year for part-time employees. Only tuition and required fees will be reimbursed. The cost of books and supplies are not reimbursed. The student is required to work at East Alabama Health for at least one year after completing the course. Taxes will be withheld from reimbursement.
